Year 7

Welcome to Year 7 and the start of a monumental journey in life. The five years at secondary school play a pivotal role in the shaping of a young person and their future adult self. This is why, at Applemore, not only do we believe every student can achieve academically but also develop into well-rounded and upstanding members of their community.

Applemore is a close-knit community in which everyone expects each other to Act Responsibly, Be Kind, Behave Well, Work Hard. Our Year 7 tutor team will work closely with students as individuals to ensure they are meeting the school ethos and providing a calm environment in which they can get ready for the day of learning ahead. The tutor group is a family within a school who, over the next five years, will form bonds that will last a lifetime. It is through the tutors that our Personal Development sessions are delivered, where a wide range of topics are covered which are essential for teenagers to know and understand if they are to make informed choices about things that are affecting them, their community and globally.

Academically, students will be introduced to a wide range of subjects in which they will develop their knowledge base, getting them ready to make their option choices in Year 9. At Applemore College we are ‘Ambitious for All’ and believe that every student can achieve academic success and will ensure students are pushed to achieve their very best. Students will begin to become more independent, taking responsibility for their own learning along with organisation, so that they arrive at lessons ready to learn and in doing so develop the skills they need to become lifelong learners.

We are extremely excited to see our Year 7’s grow, mature and develop as they ready themselves for the adult world in 2028
