Year 11 Students Celebrate GCSE Success

Year 11 Applemore students arrived at school this morning to collect their GCSE results.

We are all really pleased with the results our students achieved and the perseverance and dedication they have shown over the last two and a half years that have led to the successes we have seen today.

These results are the first set of formal GCSE exams taken since the COVID 19 pandemic. At the start of the pandemic, in March 2020, our Year 11s were just starting their GCSE courses and hence suffered significant disruption for the following two years. At the beginning of Year 11, the Government were still undecided whether formal exams would take place and asked students to sit three sets of mock exams.

Our students rose to this challenge!

After careful consideration, the school has decided not to highlight specific students in terms of their achievement. This is because so many students, whatever their starting point, have made fantastic progress and we wish to celebrate the success of all our students equally.

Mr Alan Chipping, Headteacher said: “All the staff at Applemore College are very proud of the achievements of all our students. I am truly delighted that the resilience and perseverance of our students and also our staff have led to such a fantastic set of results. We wish all our students the best of luck as they start the next stage of their education.”
